As If the World Needed Further Proof...

...that I am going insane, here is the evidence.

The other day, I threw a sock of Timmy's in the garbage instead of the hamper. Thankfully I realized before it was too late.

Today while making these, I dipped the first pretzel and didn't understand why it didn't look like the one in Pinterest. That's because I'd forgotten to color the chocolate. I pulled out my food coloring...and grabbed the yellow and blue. Fortunately, I caught my mistake and swapped the blue for red and made orange.

And tonight while I was making dinner (which was grilled cheese, because that's about the only thing I'll cook the night before Thanksgiving), I turned the Foremen grill on to heat and after a few minutes went to put the sandwiches on. Turns out it works better if you put the grilling plates on. Sigh.

I'd like to blame pregnancy brain, but even if that's the case I'm not sure we can survive 5 more months of this...

What We've Been Up To

Summer has given way to fall (finally!) and we've been busy with house projects (Chris successfully planted grass where our septic system was replaced), Bible studies starting back up, teaching a casual ASL class to some sweet girls, teaching Sunday School, chasing Timmy and Isaac and oh yeah, growing Higbaby #3. Yep, baby is due in mid-May and we're very excited!

How we told the world/FB

So far, I'm convinced this baby is a girl. Different cravings, more nausea but less sickness. We're hoping to find out the gender before we head to see family for Christmas, but instead of having them tell us, we'll have them write it down and then open up the envelope when we're all together. Hopefully baby cooperates with this grand (and lovely) scheme. And while I may be convinced it's a girl, another boy would be fun, too. I can't imagine the awesome craziness of three boys.

We're hosting Thanksgiving again (probably the exact some menu as last year, haha) and are looking forward to it. Speaking of, I'm off to finalize my shopping list for it!

How to Plan a Surprise Date Night

Funny how if you don't click "publish," posts don't publish. Wrote this in September...oops!

1) Have a generous friend offer to watch your kids. Bring your children to her house after their nap, before your husband gets home. If you're lucky, there will be cute photos like these taken:

2) Scour Pinterest for delicious yet not too complex recipes to make. (I settled on this and this.)

3) Set the patio table with candles, a tablecloth and wine glasses. Forget to take a picture.

4) Put on your favorite polka dot dress to cook while waiting for your husband to come home.

5) Enjoy a lovely meal on the patio.

6) Eat your dessert before the hot sun melts the letters you so carefully piped. Also, don't be like me and use a tomato sauce can. It tasted fine that night, but when nibbling on it the next day, it definitely had a hint of tomato.

7) Be thankful for your friends who watched your kids and even more thankful for your amazing husband.
